INTRO.

Disclaimer: This is a self-initiated Proof of Concept (POC) and mock campaign. There was no official brief provided by the brand.

The product at the center of this project is the Sabyasachi Tropical Minaudière (The Pineapple Bag). The standard approach to luxury fashion advertising is to show the glamour—the final runway, the applause, the untouchable perfection. But what actually makes an icon untouchable?

The answer I kept coming back to was the transition state. The private, chaotic, deeply vulnerable micro-seconds right before stepping into the spotlight. I didn't want to make a commercial about a bag; I wanted to make a psychological thriller about the armor a woman puts on to survive her own greatness.

THE IDEA.

Most fashion campaigns put the product on a pedestal. I put it in the trenches.

I built a claustrophobic, high-pressure world first—a brutalist backstage corridor, a screaming assistant director, a ticking clock, an overwhelming sensory assault—and then let the luxury product serve as the only grounding element within it. The core strategic idea was to frame the bag not as a delicate accessory, but as an emotional off-switch. A weapon.

APPROACH.

I approached this as a gritty editorial thriller, heavily leaning into my background in creative strategy to bypass commercial clichés. That distinction drove every creative choice. I wanted the audience to feel the model's elevated heart rate.

The film relies on the violent contrast between internal panic and external composure. To achieve this, the narrative constantly fractures between objective reality (the screaming crew) and subjective experience (her internal monologue and metaphorical visions). It is a study in friction.

VISUALS.

CAMERA WORK.

The camera language has two distinct, warring modes.

For the reality sequences, the camera is invasive and shaky, utilizing a fast, staccato 45-degree shutter angle to freeze chaotic movement—fabric rips, running crew, makeup powder exploding—into gritty, stressful slices of time.

For the introspective and metaphorical sequences, the camera locks down. It stares unblinkingly at her in the mirror. It does not look away when she hallucinates the violinist. It waits for her to snap back to reality.

LIGHTING AND COLOUR.

Strictly monochrome. The entire film is a high-contrast black-and-white chiaroscuro execution.

There are no soft beauty lights here. The lighting is driven by raw, un-diffused vanity bulbs, explosive theatrical backlights that intentionally flare the lens, and harsh on-axis camera flashes that violently cut through ink-black shadows. Stripping away the color forces the viewer to focus entirely on the texture of the environment and the geometry of the panic.

SET DESIGN.

The environment had to feel like a beautiful cage.

The sets are unpolished and industrial: exposed concrete walls, heavy iron staging doors, and cramped dressing tables. The dressing room isn't pristine; it is a battleground of scattered makeup brushes, tangled wires, and spilled translucent powder.

This specific mess was engineered so that when the jewel-encrusted brass Pineapple Bag is finally revealed sitting on the scuffed wooden table, the contrast between the brutal environment and the hyper-refined craftsmanship is absolute.

CHARACTERS.

The protagonist, Kelly, has the specific quality of a woman who is internally drowning while externally holding the line. She doesn't perform for the screaming crew around her.

The supporting cast acts as the physical manifestation of her anxiety: the frantic Assistant Director shouting through the intercom, the rushing makeup artists, and the metaphorical violinist who exists only in her mind, bowing the strings with the same frantic energy as her racing thoughts.

WARDROBE.

The wardrobe bridges the gap between raw reality and high couture. Kelly is clad in dense, heavy, shimmering black sequined lace—a luxurious material that is constantly being pulled, adjusted, and brushed against in the cramped space, creating an auditory and visual friction.

STORYBOARDING.

The storyboard was built around the critical transition points. First, mapping the geometric alignment for the opening eye-to-clock match cut. Second, structuring the 3-frame rapid montages so they read as sensory overload rather than just messy footage. Finally, pre-visualizing the climax: charting the exact framing required to transition smoothly from her quiet reflection in the mirror to the jarring, metaphorical inserts of the screaming self and the violinist.

EDITING.

ai video editing

The edit is a weapon. The pacing is designed to induce anxiety and then instantly relieve it.

The 3-frame rapid montages act as a machine gun of context, making the sudden transition to a slow, heavy clock tick feel claustrophobic. The most important editorial decision happens at the very end. The video doesn't fade out as she walks to the stage. It cuts hard on the exact frame she grabs the bag in a hurry. The story isn't about her walking out; it's about the moment she decides she is ready.

SOUND DESIGN.

ai sound design

The sound architecture is heavily layered, driving the psychological narrative forward.

The foundation is a muffled, low-frequency sub-bass rumble of a stadium crowd bleeding through concrete walls. Above that sits the mechanical punctuation: the harsh ticking of the clock, the camera flashes, and the metallic friction of her sequined dress.

The emotional spine is the dialogue: the frantic, echoing crew announcements clashing against her hyper-intimate, whispered inner monologue. But the most powerful sound design choice is the vacuum. When the reality of the moment finally hits her and she reaches for the bag, the entire chaotic soundscape is violently sucked out into dead, zero-decibel silence.

TOOLS USED.

Visual Generation: Nano Banana Pro was utilized to generate strict, geometrically locked image assets (crucial for the precision of the macro match-cuts and the chiaroscuro lighting). Motion & Video: Seedance 2 was used for image-to-video generation, capturing the specific high-velocity whip-pans, staccato shutter movements, and the fierce kinetic energy of the final product grab. Audio & Soundscape: ElevenLabs was used extensively for all vocal performances (engineering the breathless inner monologue and the frantic Assistant Director) as well as synthesizing the isolated mechanical Foley and environmental room tones.
